Multicultural
The University, like Manchester itself, is a multicultural environment and home to around 7,400 international students from 180 countries (see table, right).
Schools
- More than 30,000 school students every year benefit from the University's outreach, inclusion and school and college liaison activities;
- Nine summer schools are organised every year for more than 800 students;
- More than 1,000 local schoolchildren have used our library access facility;
- 26,000 schoolchildren visited The Manchester Museum last year;
- More than 100 professional healthcare and science mentors provide one-to-one guidance for local school pupils.

There are 9,755 staff employed by The University of Manchester, making us one of the biggest employers in the North West. This includes more than 4,300 academic and research staff.
