The administration of The University of Manchester is provided by a number of central directorates and divisions (known collectively as Professional Support Services) which report to the Registrar and Secretary. The Registrar and Secretary reports to the President of the University.

The University Language Centre offers a wide range of language teaching and learning opportunities to students, staff and members of the public. We support a diversity of constituencies, including international students in any discipline destined for, or already present in, the University. Our learning facilities are used by students on our own programmes and courses and by students engaged in language-related studies in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures. The John Rylands University Library is one of the largest academic libraries in the country. It holds more than four million separate items, including some of the greatest printed books and manuscripts. It also has the largest collection of electronic resources of any UK institution.
The Library service is spread across a number of sites. The Main Library is on Oxford Road at the heart of the main campus, the Joule Library houses major collections and the historic John Rylands Library forms part of the Special Collections Division. IT Services is organised in line with the devolved administrative model for the University supporting the Faculties, Schools, research institutes and central administration.
Their mission is to create integrated, responsive, client-centric IT services for The University of Manchester that support the goals of the 2015 agenda.
IT Services now incorporates Research Computing Services, which provides advanced computing expertise, services and facilities for research and teaching use throughout The University of Manchester.
This directorate is responsible for the University's sports facilities as well as the marketing and operation of the extensive conference and catering services.
