Research

Access to University research can give your organisation a new vantage point. You will gain new insights, leverage new technology or invest in the next game-changing invention.

The University of Manchester’s research helps businesses, charities, authorities and more, with £188 million in research grants and contracts coming our way last year.

Academically, we are recognised for our research power, ranked among the best in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise and 40th in the world in the 2012 Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking Of World Universities.

University research for business

Innovation is the thread that runs throughout the University’s history, from the first modern computer to our pioneering work on the wonder material graphene.

Groundbreaking research takes place in a spectrum of areas across our Faculties and Institutes - in many cases, in multidisciplinary collaborative groups.

Our Business Engagement Support Team will find you the perfect expertise in order to help you achieve your business goals.

Research case studies

Our research has contributed to a wide range of organisation’s successes.
