Case study: AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca PLC, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, has identified The University of Manchester as a key partner which shares the vision of delivering safe and effective medicines to patients.

The formal collaboration agreement, announced on 11 July 2006, builds on many years of working together on individual projects and informal contacts between AstraZeneca and The University of Manchester.

The two organizations have established a steering group to overview the management of the collaboration

The group is jointly chaired by Professor Alan North, University of Manchester Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Dr Les Hughes, AstraZeneca Global Vice-President, Cancer and Infection.

Two Account Managers, Dr Catherine Headley, University of Manchester Business Development Manager, and Dr David Hollinshead of AstraZeneca, will look after the management of day-to-day interactions between the organisations and provide a central point of contact within each of the organisations.
