Translational research

At Manchester, we understand that it’s not just about groundbreaking research; it’s about what we do with it. Taking research from lab benches through to clinical practice is where the real differences are made. This is where we excel.

With specialist expertise along the translational pipeline, we lead from basic biological, cognitive and imaging sciences through to clinical research and applications into man.

Our academics conduct fundamental research that directly informs clinical practice, and use learnings from clinical practice to inform their research, ensuring a real breadth of high-quality research.

From models of normal and abnormal function, we develop theory-driven applications and interventions. In the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, we evaluate these in conditions of health and disease. This centre sees our academics and researchers united with leading healthcare providers who supply the clinical test bed for our translational work, helping to ensure a seamless integration of translational research.

From lab bench to bedside. The world works better with us.
