Access Manchester

We believe that any student should have access to a world-class education, regardless of their social or financial background.

This issue is very close to home for us. The University is located in one of the most deprived urban areas in the UK, where up to 52% of children live in poverty.

We are the only university in the UK to rank social responsibility equally alongside world-class research and outstanding learning and student experience as one of our three core goals.

We’re committed to attracting the very best students to study here. Nearly 30% of our UK undergraduate students come from lower-income households, and with help from donations, we offer one of the most generous financial support packages in the UK.

Meet Scott

Listen to Scott explain how he benefited from the Manchester Access Programme and how it helped him both before, and during university.

We’re proud of our achievements in improving access to a world-class education, but there’s still more to be done. Supporting students while at university is vital, but we believe these students also need better support before and after university, so they have the best possible chance of having a brighter future.

With your generous support, we can continue to work with students from a very young age, preparing them for university life, supporting them while they’re here and providing them with practical help beyond graduation.
