A senior delegation from the large state-owned enterprise group visited the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences to finalise an agreement on the establishment of a joint lab, focused on advanced control systems.

The Faculty’s Vice-President and Dean, Professor Martin Schröder, was delighted to welcome the delegation to an agreement signing ceremony in the Whitworth Council Chamber.

The lab will be based at the University of Manchester Aerospace Research Institute with Dr Zhengtao Ding, Professor Costas Soutis, and Dr Shan Zhong appointed as directors to represent the University for the lab.

Professor Simon Rowland, Head of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, said: “I am delighted that our respective teams have put in place an agreement for future collaboration. It is our aspiration that, in time, the collaboration will move beyond Control Systems into other aspects of Aerospace Science and Technology.”
