Reinmar served on the Senate and Board of Governors from 2012 to 2015 and rejoined in 2017.

Reinmar is a systems geneticist and Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences. His group’s work seeks to understand how genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors interact and shape phenotypic differences between individuals.

He studied economics, psychology, law, sociology and biology at five universities in Germany and the UK, and completed his PhD in 2004 at the University of Cambridge. He was Senior Rouse Ball Scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, and Emmy Noether Fellow (2005–2007).

In 2008 he was awarded a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Research Fellowship at The University of Manchester and a Group Leader Fellowship at Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich.

Since 2012 he has been a member of the NERC Peer Review College and serves on several NERC Grant Panels. He also acts as Senior Postgraduate Tutor and is currently an Associate Editor for BMC Evolutionary Biology. He has published one book and authored or co-authored more than 60 articles.
