Gallery: Precinct Centre Bridge demolition

Summary

As part of plans to redevelop Manchester Business School, the Precinct Centre Bridge over Oxford Road was demolished at the weekend (15-16 August).

The 46-year-old bridge was taken down as part of a project to make room for improved student and staff facilities, and to provide 40,500 sq ft of new retail and leisure facilities.

Photographers Andrew Brooks and Jill Jennings were on hand to capture the demolition.

Overall, around 200,000 sq ft of MBS facilities will be refurbished as part of the plans to improve teaching and administrative accommodation, a new learning library and enterprise zone.

This project is one of several currently underway on the campus as the University forges ahead with its £1 billion campus masterplan capital programme which will create world class facilities for staff, students and visitors.

Oxford Road will remain partially closed until 7 September and travel advice can be found on the Transport For Greater Manchester website.
