Proud to be part of our University

94% of respondents to our Staff Survey 2015 said that the University is a good place to work, with 92% saying they are proud to work here.

7,177 members of staff (70% of those eligible to take part) responded to the Staff Survey 2015 which was run in March and April by Capita. Other findings include that 88% of staff are interested in working here, it's more than 'just a job' to them.

As this is the second time that the Staff Survey has been run with Capita, it's now possible to see where trends are emerging.  One area which has seen an improvement in performance is around awareness of the University's Dignity at Work and Study policy which rose from 68% in 2013 to 80% in 2015.  74% of respondents had also heard of the University and Students' Union We Get It campaign.

Professor Martin Humphries, Chair of the Staff Survey Steering Group, said "While these results are extremely encouraging, there are also some areas where we need to improve – in particular around the way that the University manages change and helps staff to gain a better work-life balance. University-level action plans will be developed in the coming months aimed at addressing the key issues raised in the survey."

Three local charities also benefitted from the Staff Survey - the University donated £1 for each survey completed and invited staff to choose which charity would receive their donation. The total donation of £7,177 was shared by St Ann's Hospice (£2,734), The Mustard Tree (£2,359) and The Christie Charity (£2,084).
