Abstract
This article provides a conceptualisation of the intentionality of researchers engaged in multilingual research processes. This focus on intentionality (as in ‘purpose’) is motivated by our previous ecological framing of research activity and research education as intentional activity (Stelma 2011; Stelma and Fay in press). The overall aim of the article is to encourage researchers to challenge, and where appropriate move beyond, conventional methodological practices. A concrete outcome of the article will be a set of methodological steps that can support the development of researcher intentionality when researching multilingually.
