Abstract
D-Fenfluramine is a potent stimulator of thermogenesis in the rat, an action which may contribute to its effects on body weight. The actions of D-fenfluramine appear to control release of endogenous 5-HT which subsequently induces release of eicosanoids and corticotrophin-releasing factor. Peripheral heat production results mainly from sympathetic activation of thermogenesis.
