Entry requirements

General requirements for undergraduate courses

Applicants for undergraduate study must have achieved the MATURA qualification with at least three subjects at extended level.

The exact entry requirements will differ according to the course applied for, but as a guide, a course that requires A-Level grades AAB would roughly equate to the following:

  • Two extended subjects at 90%
  • One extended subject at 80%

General requirements for postgraduate/research courses

Applicants should have achieved good grades at Licencjat or Inzynier level. The exact grade requirements will differ according to the course applied for. In general, a grade point average of 4.5  (B or 4+) would meet the minimum entry requirements for many courses at The University of Manchester.

Many courses require applicants to have studied a particular subject at undergraduate level. Further information is provided in the course profiles:

PhD entry

Entry requirements will differ according to the course applied for. In general, applicants should have achieved good grades at Magister level.

English language requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but are usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 - 7.5.

Some departments ask that the appropriate score has been met before you apply for a course whilst other departments give conditional offers subject to applicants achieving our general entry requirement level of English language proficiency before starting the course.

Please note that this is generic information only. Faculties and Schools have different entry requirements and some qualifications may not be acceptable for certain courses, so it is important to check with the School directly before you apply.

Some courses have additional entry requirements such as previous work experience, submission of written work with the application or previous study of a particular subject.
