Manchester Mentor Scheme

All students joining us for a period of study abroad are invited to join our Manchester Mentor Scheme to help them settle in to life in the city. Under the Mentor Scheme, an incoming study abroad student can be matched to a Manchester student who has been on a period of study abroad themselves, and who can provide them with advice, information and friendship.

Mentors help their mentees with a range of practical issues, including giving information on facilities at The University of Manchester (for example library, support services etc), information on the city of Manchester (where to go, what to see etc), but mostly they provide a friendly face for the incoming student. Interaction can take place through informal face-to-face meetings, via email, or by telephone. Mentors and mentees are put in touch with each other before the semester begins so that email correspondence can commence before your arrival in the UK. You will then be invited to a welcome event in the first few weeks of the semester, where you can meet your mentor in person.

Registration information is provided to all study abroad students after their application has been received. Please email for further details on the scheme.
