These studentships provides a generous stipend (currently ranging from approximately £18K to £21K) and UK/EU fees. Funds are also provided to cover the cost of attendance at scientific meetings. Wellcome Trust Four Year PhD Studentships are available to students from all nationalities, however, the awards only cover UK/EU fees and living expenses. International applicants must be able to arrange funding to cover the remaining proportion of the fees each year.

Academic requirements

Applicants should hold (or be about to obtain) a first or upper second class honours degree, or the overseas equivalent.

Nationality restrictions

This funding is available to all nationalities.

Other eligibility criteria

For applicants whose first language is not English the minimum English language requirement is IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 577 (paper-based), 233 (computer-based) or 90 (internet-based).
