Manchester is perfect for students because of the reasonable living costs, variety of food and diversity of student nationalities.
Choosing a place of study is an important issue so you must think about the place you are going to study and what you will come out with when you complete your studies. I wanted to do a degree in corrosion science and engineering, and the Corrosion and Protection Centre here in Manchester is an award-winning world research centre.
I am a member of the Corrosion and Protection Society, CaPSoc. We had a great time last year going to Blackpool, the Peak District, a meal out at a Chinese restaurant at Chinese New Year and many other social and sporting activities. I also play football at the University Sport Centre with my friends and colleagues.
I have been to many places in the UK and I have had the chance to visit many of the sights, such as Big Ben and Trafalgar Square in London and The Manchester Museum and Manchester United football ground here in Manchester. I also like the countryside very much.
The UK is nice and the people are very helpful as well. I am very happy with the diversity of student nationalities here. I have made friends here from many different parts of the world. Some of them are still here and some have gone back home, but I am still in contact with them.
The creation of The University of Manchester is a great experience, as the new university is expected to be one of the biggest academic institutions in the United Kingdom.
The new institution will be great for the city of Manchester financially and in terms of reputation. Manchester is already a famous city but a large university such as this will give it another dimension.
Many students will be attracted to the new university, especially because Manchester is ideal for student life. I wish The University of Manchester all the best and I hope we continue on the same outstanding level.
