How much does it cost to live in Manchester?

Living costs in Manchester compare equally to other major UK cities such as Birmingham or Nottingham but are less expensive than London.

Your main costs will be your accommodation, food, books, travel and entertainment, and will obviously depend on your lifestyle.

A single student in Manchester will need approximately £650 a month to live on, i.e. £7,800 for a twelve month stay.

The figure will be higher if you bring your family or partner with you, or have any additional support needs (e.g. arising from a disability).

These costs can also be expected to rise in future years in line with inflation, which in Britain is currently around 3%. If the course you are applying for lasts more than one year, you will need to bear this in mind.
