Full entry requirements
Academic entry qualification overview:
Potential students should hold an honours degree (2:2 or above) preferably in a science discipline. Extensive professional experience, coupled with evidence of further training or qualifications, will be considered in lieu of a degree for initial entry to the Diploma.
English language:
Students whose first language is not English require a minimum of:
- IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in any one component
- TOEFL 625 paper-based with a score of 5 in the test of written English
- TOEFL 263 computer-based with a score of 5 in the test of written English
Some English language test results are only valid for two years. Your English language test report must be valid on the start date of your course
Other international entry requirements:
Overseas students should note that:
- In year 1 students are required to attend in Manchester for a 1-day seminar associated with Module 1 in month 3 and the same for Module 2 in month 6
- Students will be required to participate in two tutorials per course module for modules 4 to 8, via tele- and web-conference
- In year 2, students are required to attend in Manchester for a 4-day practical course in month 6
- In year 3, students are required to attend a 3-day Research Methods course held at the University in month 1
- All examinations are held at the University
A written undertaking that these conditions can be met is required before a potential overseas student may be accepted on the programme.

All materials are accessed solely online, via the University¿s Virtual Learning environment, Blackboard. Students are therefore advised that they will require ready access to a computer, with the following minimum specification:
- 1 GB of RAM
- 1 GB of free disk space
- Soundcard and speakers/headphones
- Monitor resolution of 1024 x 768
- Broadband Internet connection
