Pharmaceutical Industrial Advanced Training (PIAT)

Degree awarded: MSc/PGDip

Duration: Up to 60 months

Entry requirements:

Access to PIAT is open to all. There are no special entry requirements if you want to study individual modules as part of your personal development programme.

PIAT is an advanced level programme and some modules require advanced level knowledge of physical and organic chemistry, biology and mathematics. All modules require some work and experience within the industry.

To study for a Postgraduate Diploma or the MSc degree you should have a degree level scientific qualification. If you do not already have the required qualifications to study for the Postgraduate Diploma, you can join this programme when you have proved your ability by earning four module credits.

International Students: All International students must upload a scanned copy of their passport as part of the application process.

Course fees:

Tuition fees can be paid on a module-by-module basis or, alternatively, students can pay for a block of 4 in two installments or pay the full fee for the 8 modules. Fees are determined by the month students start the course. Students undertaking an MSc must pay for 8 modules plus dissertation. 

Fees shown below are applicable to Home/EU and International students. 

Students starting after July 2012

Fees: £1,413 per module. 

  • MSc: 8 modules plus dissertation = £12,717
  • PGDip:8 modules = £11,304
  • PGCert: 4 modules = £5,652

The fees quoted above will be fully inclusive for the course tuition, administration and computational costs during your studies.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of courses lasting more than a year for UK/EU students (for the course duration at the year of entry).
