Dental Public Health (MDPH)

Degree awarded: Masters of Dental Public Health (MDPH)

Duration: 1 year FT, 2-5 years PT or standalone course units

Entry requirements:

• A degree in dentistry or a non-clinical subject and preferably two years of working experience. Normally the non-clinical degree will be in a science or social science subject (minimum 2:1 or equivalent GPA) and the individual will be working in some area with a link to oral health.
• The degree held must be from a recognised institution.  
• Applicants with other qualifications, research or professional experience will be considered for admission on an individual basis, although they may be required to register for a diploma in the first instance.

Course fees: For entry in the academic year beginning September 2013, the tuition fees are as follows:

• MDPH (full-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students: £6,500
  International students: £11,000
• MDPH (part-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students: 722 per 15 credits and £722 for dissertation
  International students: £1,222 per 15 credits and £1,222 for dissertation
• PGCert (full-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students: £2,888
  International students: £4,888
• PGCert (part-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students: 722 per 15 credits
  International students: £1,222 per 15 credits
• PGDip (full-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students: £5,776
  International students: £9,776
• PGDip (part-time distance learning)
  UK/EU students (per annum): 722 per 15 credits
  International students: £1,222 per 15 credits

MDPH: 8 units and dissertation; PGDip: 8 units; PGCert: 4 units 

The totals given above are estimations based on completion of all elements within the year stated. The unit and dissertation costs are subject to yearly incremental rises and these values will increase next July. Additional expenses:

The course fees include all the tuition, technical support and examinations required for the course, but there are some additional costs:

• Maximum of one text book per course unit costs approximately £30 - £50 per book
• Communication costs for email, internet access and telephone
• The residential course: this is optional and does incur extra costs for the students, including travel and accommodation in Manchester for 1-2 nights
