The University of Manchester welcomes applications from candidates with sensory and physical disabilities, specific learning difficulties and other special needs.
Over the years students with a wide range of needs have successfully completed postgraduate study at Manchester.
Adaptations have been made to a number of rooms in Halls to meet the needs of students with impaired mobility, and two flats in the Whitworth Park complex have been specifically designed for this purpose.
Provision has been made to meet the needs of students with hearing or sight impairments, and there are also extensive IT and other support facilities.
Before applying for a course we encourage you to contact the admissions officer of the department in which you are interested, to discuss any needs you may have and arrangements which may be necessary.
You are welcome to visit the University before applying to find out whether this University is the right one for you.
The University will take all reasonable steps to ensure that if you meet the academic criteria, your disabled status will not exclude you from following the course you're interested in.
Our Disability Support Office is located on the lower ground floor of the John Owens Building. The office provides advice to prospective and current students with regards to all aspects of disability-related support needs whilst at the University.
