Ways to study

For the majority of students at The University of Manchester, studying for a postgraduate qualification is done on a full-time basis.

The University offers a wide range of postgraduate awards, including:

• Diplomas and Certificates, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
• Taught Masters degrees i.e. MA, MSc, Med, MBA and LLM
• Master of Research (MRes)
• Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
• Master of Enterprise (MEnt)
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
• Doctor of Engineering (EngD)
• Doctor of Enterprise (EntD)
• Professional Doctorate courses i.e. Counselling (DCouns), Educational Psychology (DEdPsy), Education (EdD), Clinical Pyschology (ClinPsyD), Business Administration (DBA)

Many of the postgraduate courses can be studied part-time, with varying durations (for details please refer to individual course entries).

Applicants to postgraduate courses from overseas (non-EU) countries should be aware that terms of entry into the UK will normally only allow full-time study.

Distance learning

A number of Schools offer postgraduate courses delivered by distance learning, which is sometimes called distributed learning or e-learning. This allows you to learn by self-study using printed materials and web-based resources.
