Biography

Alex obtained his BSc in Nursing in 1990 in Greece, an MSc from the University of Hull, UK in 1991 and his PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1996. With a clinical background in cancer care and more specifically in haemato-oncology and bone marrow transplatation, he has worked both clinically and academically in Greece, the UK, US, Malta and Hong Kong. He has worked up every stage of the academic ladder and he is now Professor of Cancer & Supportive Care at the University of Manchester.

Head of Academic Cancer Nursing Research Centre, Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Management Board, National Cancer Research Institute Supportive & Palliative Care Research Collaborative (with Universities of Manchester, Southampton, Liverpool, Nottingham & Lancaster).

Board Member of: National Cancer Research Institute, Complementary Therapies CSG; Research Committee, International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care; Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, antiemetics working group and quality of life working group (co-chair).
