Professor Chris Taylor (FREng, OBE) - research
Research interests
Chris's main research interests are:
Generic image analysis
Neuro image analysis
Drug discovery and development
Natural human-computer interaction – faces
Computer-aided mammography
Radiology workbench
MIAS Grid - an e-Science workbench for medical imaging research
His group has been able to address increasingly challenging applications of computer vision, by building on and extending statistical modelling techniques.
Chris's work has influenced computer-aided mammographic screening development both nationally and internationally.
His team has developed technology for the important industrial application of printed circuit board inspection that has been commercially exploited with considerable success.
Face recognition has emerged as an important technology with a broad range of potential applications and is an area in which the group is recognised as one of the leading groups internationally.
Image analysis for drug discovery is an emerging field of potentially great significance and in which Professor Taylor has established a leading role, entering into a long-term collaboration with AstraZeneca with a view to developing a generic system for quantitative image analysis in drug discovery.
