Biography
Heather Waterman is a health services researcher with nearly 20 years experience, over 50 publications and PGR supervision experience (15 completions). Her methodological expertise lies in action research with a current focus on translating research into practice. She has published on action research in peer reviewed internationally recognised journals and has recently co-authored a text book on action research published by Sage. Coming with a clinical background of nursing, she has research interests in promoting self-care of patients with long term conditions especially those concerning loss of sight. She has been lead or collaborator on several externally funded grants from medical charities, HTA and NIHR. She has sat on funding committees including the MRC Health Services and Public Health Research Board and carries out peer reviews for the SDO, HTA. Her expertise in action research led to an invitation to review internationally for The Health Research Council of New Zealand and Netherlands. She also reviews for numerous health, medical and educational journals. She is a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science.
