Biography

I received an MSc in Psychological Research Methods (Distinction) from Lancaster University in 1995. I then completed a PhD under the supervision of Professor Peter Morris also at Lancaster University in 1999. My PhD explored the relationship between attractiveness and distinctiveness in face recognition. I was appointed to a lectureship in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Huddersfield in July 1999. I moved to the University of Manchester in 2002, where I continued to carry out research into face recognition. In 2010 I decided to change my focus from research to teaching, and I became a teaching-focussed lecturer. I also became the Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) Psychology course at the same time.
