Neil Dixon received his M.Chem in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Leeds in 2000. He then went on to study ligand-protein interactions between synthetic natural product mimics and the osteoporosis target enzyme V-ATPase, using a range of biophysical and biochemical techniques, for which he received his PhD in 2005 also from the University of Leeds. He subsequently worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre within the laboratory of Professor Jason Micklefield investigating small molecule mediated gene regulation.
He has authored eleven peer-reviewed research articles, and one review article, and most recently published within the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He has presented research findings at numerous national and international meetings, most notably within the last 12-months at Emory, Georgia Tech, and Yale Universities and at the RiboClub Meeting, Sherbrooke, Canada and 13th Asian Chemical Congress Shanghai, China.
He has most recently been awarded an RSE/BBSRC Research Enterprise fellowship based in the School of Chemistry and the MIB to support the development of the gene expression control technology, allow further consultation with identified industrial partners, and support the commercial developments.
