Role: Professor of Retailing
Dr Peter J. McGoldrick is Professor of Retailing in the School of Materials at The University of Manchester. He chaired the CRIS (Consumer, Retail, Innovation & Service) Research Centre at Manchester Business School from 2007 to 2012 and founded/directed the Retail Research Forum, an industry-university collaboration of fifteen years standing. His research has attracted extensive peer-reviewed and industrial funding, including several grants from the ESRC, EPSRC, DTI, OFT, EU and other funding organisations.
Peter has published 200 books and papers, mainly in the fields of retailing and consumer behaviour. His textbook Retail Marketing (McGraw-Hill) was also published in Chinese and he is co-editor of the textbook Retail Marketing Management, 2015 (Pearson). He has also co-authored books on International Retailing, The Retailing of Financial Services, and Shopping Centres. He has recent papers published in Journal of Retailing, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Business Ethics and many other journals.
He serves on editorial review boards for the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Communications, and European Retail Research, also serving as an ad hoc reviewer for many journals and conferences. He is a regular contributor to international conferences, including those of the Academy of Marketing Science, Association for Consumer Research and Society for Marketing Advances, and has served as a member of the AMS Board of Governors. He has a number of prize-winning papers, including a best paper awards at the World Marketing Congress and at the 2014 and 2015 AMS Annual Conferences, and a Journal of Retailing Outstanding Reviewer Award.
