Research interests
My work is about understanding ageing of electrical insulation. I am particularly active developing models for high voltage insulation surfaces, and models for asset management, and work closely with a number of utilities. Presently I manage the EPSRC 'Networks Top and Tail' Grand Challenge collaborative project in which 8 Universities are engaged. I work on insulation systems for overhead lines and cables, and I have a number of National Grid funded projects, mainly associated with insulation systems, and also work closely with SSE.
Particualr areas of focus are:
- Reliability of dielectric materials
- Polymeric insulation systems
- Asset Management
- Low current arcs
- Overhead line and cable insulation
