Dr Steve Roberts - research

Research interests

My research interests focus the on applications of statistical modelling with particular emphasis on the interface between the laboratory and clinical medicine. Specifically, this has led to a long-standing interest in the analysis of radiobiological and radiotherapy data with binary outcome measures and non-linear models.

A more recent interest has been embryo-level modelling of assisted conception data, investigating the utility of embryonic predictors of treatment outcome. I am statistician on a trial of novel markers of embryo viability and lead an HTA-funded study to develop and utilise predictive statistical models based on routine clinical data to inform treatment policy.

Other application areas include adolescent sexual health (funding from Nuffield and BUPA), childhood skeletal development (CMMC-ISBE collaboration), various aspects of nephrology (CMMC) and pharmacogenetics (DoH-funded TARGET trial).
