Complex fluids and soft materials, such as polymers, surfactant solutions, liquid crystals and bloods, exhibit a hierarchy of the characteristic length scales from molecular to tissue levels. Their dynamic processes are often strongly correlated. I am interested in studying complex fluids & soft matter by a combined experimental, theoretical and computational approach. Experimental components include rheometry; in-situ optical microscopy, rheo-optical technique and velocimetry for structural and flow characterisations. Theoretical components involve statistical mechanics, molecular kinetic theory, density functional theory and rheology. Simulation techniques include Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics and non-equilibrium molecular dynamics, stochastic simulation techniques, discrete Boltzmann method, computational rheology and multiple scale Lagrangian-Eulerian-Stochastic method.
