I have taught Palaeography at the University of Manchester since 1980. I also teach Anglo-Saxon Studies, Old English and English Name Studies.
Before coming to Manchester I had research and editing posts with the English Place-Name Society; the Public Record Office, London; the Winchester Research Unit; and the Victoria County History. I have also taught at the University of London Goldsmiths' College and the University of Liverpool.
