Dr Clare O'Donnell (BSc, PhD, MCOptom, FAAO) - personal details
Clare O'Donnell is currently a senior lecturer in Optometry and Director of Manchester Ophthalmics Ltd, The University of Manchester, UK. In this capacity she is responsible for teaching clinical optometry, general medical sciences and contact lenses on the Optometry degree programmes and she acts as Principal Investigator on a number of funded research projects. Clare graduated in Optometry from Glasgow Caledonian University and worked in private practice before gaining a PhD from UMIST and then an MBA from Manchester Business School. Clare is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators, a member of the International Society for Contact Lens Research, a member of the British Universities Committee of Contact Lens Educators, section editor for Optometry in Practice, a past recipient of the BCLA Irving Fatt Memorial Award and the Dallos Award and she is an examiner for the College of Optometrists. Clare's main research interests focus on the anterior ocular manifestations of diabetes, visual function in keratoconus, corneal changes after refractive surgery and the ocular response to contact lens wear.
