Dr David Apsley (BA, PhD) - personal details

David graduated from Cambridge University in 1985 with a degree in mathematics, specialising in applied mathematics and fluid mechanics. He joined the then Central Electricity Generating Board to work on environmental physics research. He subsequently returned to University (Surrey) to do a PhD on the application of computational fluid dynamics to atmospheric flow and dispersion. After 5 years as a post-doctoral RA in the Mechanical Engineering Department at UMIST he transferred to the present department in January 2000 as a lecturer in hydraulics.
