School of Arts, Histories and Cultures

Research interests within the School span a variety of subjects, across a wide spectrum.

All of the nine discipline areas within the School are judged to be of international standing as measured by the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). Two achieved the highest rating of 6* while the remainder all scored 5.

Many of the units within the School are inherently multi-disciplinary and we are committed to ensuring that this research excellence informs our teaching. Our student body contains analysts and creative artists; students of texts and of material culture; historians of ideas and cultural theorists.
