School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures

The School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures achieved an outstanding result in RAE 2008.

Our submissions in Russian, Slavonic and East European Languages, and Iberian and Latin American Languages are top of their national league tables. Each has 30% or more of its research rated as 'world-leading', and 70% or above as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

In seven of the eight submissions, at least 50% of our research is rated as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. In over a third of our submissions, the figure is 60% or more.

This result places the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures among the UK's leading schools of its kind.
