It is the purpose of the UKCTE Research Programme to develop internationally competitive basic science research to guide innovative tissue engineering applications in medicine.

UKCTE is endowed with an exceptionally strong team of scientists and clinicians, including those with outstanding research records in:

• Gene transfer
• Wound healing
• Biocompatibility
• Haemodynamics
• Angiogenesis

Research is grouped within three themes

• Skin and Laminar Structures
• Cartilage, Intervertebral Disc, Tensile and Compressive Structures
• Vascular and Tubular Structures
