Biography

Mike Harrison – a chemist – is a Lecturer within the Drug Delivery Group, having previously worked as a research scientist from 1986 at The Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research (CAMR), Porton Down on Biosensors and microbial detection using liposomes and synthetic cytolytic peptides. From 1981-6 he worked at CAMR on Production of biotherapeutics via large-scale microbial fermentation. Prior to this he gained experience in powder technology in the pyrotechnics field and synthetic organic chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry with Reckitt and Coleman Ltd in Hull. He joined the Drug Delivery Group in 1995 and since then has continued to work on rapid microbial detection and other related areas.

Teaching

Mike currently runs a programme to supervise the practical projects in Drug Delivery for the fourth year pharmacy Masters students. Current projects include the investigation of drug partitioning into liposomes using fluorescent probes.
