Biography

Jonathan Codd is currently a Lecturer in Integrative Vertebrate Biology and member of the Computational and Evolutionary Biology research grouping within the Faculty of Life Sciences. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in animal biology from the Flinders University of South Australia (1997), a Master of Science degree in animal physiology from The University of Adelaide (2001) and a Ph.D from the University of Bonn (2004) working with Prof. S.F. Perry on the physiology and mechanics of ventilation in birds. Jonathan undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Zoology at the University of Bonn (2004-5) where he developed his interests in respiratory biology.

In 2005 Jonathan moved to the UK to take up his Lectureship position within FLS. his research group has been built with funding from The Leverhulme Trust, BBSRC and NERC. His research has focussed on functional constraints during breathing and locomotion in mammals and birds.

Jonathan has organised several international conferences on respiration and locomotion (2004, 2005, 2009). In addition he is a member of the Society for Experimental Biology and The Anatomical Society.
