Specific research interests:
Civic participation and citizenship, behaviour change techniques, neighbourhood governance, local politics and local government, public services, public policy, methodological innovation including participatory research approaches, and experimental methods


Current research projects

Current research projects as of January 2013:
Citizen Contributions to Local Public Services: field experiments in institutions incorporating social information: a project being run jointly with UCL and the Universities of Exeter and Southampton.  It will use field experiments (Randomised Controlled Trials) to test different ways to recruit volunteers, and increase their contributions.

Bradford Neighbourhood Community Budget pilot: evaluation and support.

An Agenda for Housing Plus: a knowledge exchange programme, in collaboration with LSE Housing, a programme of policy and practice development, advancing the core idea that housing has potential as a building block of family life, community, social capital and self-help.

Charter for Elected Member Development - Level II: a piece of developmental research for North West Employers’ Organisation on a self-assessment and evaluation tool for local elected members in North West local authorities.
