Dr Maria Sobolewska - research

Research interests

I am interested in public opinion, elections, political representation and participation and issues of measurement.

I specialise in the issues of ethnicity, religion and race relations. Most of my research is on ethnic and religious minorities in Britain.

I use mostly quantitative data analysis methods in my work, but I do have some projects using qualitative approaches.

My current projects include:

1. Ethnic Minorities British Election Study (with prof. Anthony Heath, Prof. David Sanders and Dr Stephen Fisher) funded by ESRC

2. Muslim public opinion in Britain (with Sundas Ali)

3. Question wording experiments and public support for political violence

4. Descriptive and substantive representation of ethnic minorities in Britain

5. Integration: a bottom up approach (How integration is constructed and understood in a dialog with in-group and out-group members) with Dr Laurence Lessard-Phillips. Funded by SoSS Manchester
