Dr Mehandjiev is a member of the Centre for Service Research in the University of Manchester, and of the Networked European Software and Services Initiative (NESSI), a European Technology Platform. The main focus of NESSI is that of service, aiming to transform the EU economy through Service Oriented business models. Launched in September 2005, NESSI has over 300 member organisations, representing 1.7 Million strong work force and 490 B€ annual revenue. It aims to implement its Strategic Research Agenda through an investment of 2.5 B€.  One of its most important strategic projects is SOA4All, a project aiming to support the emergence of a Web of billions of services, where non-specialists can provide and procure software service (service prosumers).
