PhD, Professor of Social Research in Criminology in the School of Law
After completing her PhD at Washington State University, she came to Scotland (University of Stirling), then Wales (University of Cardiff) and finally to England and the University of Manchester. Her main area of research is violence and the policies and interventions relating to it.
Rebecca and Russell Dobash have won the World Congress of Victimology Award for Original Research and Publications in the area of Domestic Violence, the American Society of Criminology's Distinguished Book Award for Comparative Research and the American Criminological Association's August Vollmer Award and been visiting scholars at the University of California, Berkeley, University of Arizona, University of Melbourne and University of Sydney.
They have held fellowships and/or research grants from the Carnegie Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Home Office, the Scottish Office and other government departments, and served as research and policy advisors in Britain, Canada, USA, Australia and Sweden.
