* Applicants with a 2:2 honours first degree  may be considered on the basis of documented evidence of exceptional innovative practice, practice leadership, service development, research projects and publications.  Such evidence must be clearly described in any application.

Course description

The MRes Health and Social Care (MRes HSC) programme will equip students with an in-depth understanding and knowledge and skills in a range of theoretical underpinnings and research methods relevant to applied research in a range of contemporary health and social care contexts.

The MRes HSC is for students who wish to pursue a variety of careers in health and/or social care where research is a core component. The majority of modules within the programme are shared with other students undertaking MSc and MPhil/PhD study.

The course is delivered mainly online but is complemented by two compulsory four-day campus-based introductory and winter study schools, and 1 mid-semester study day in both semester 1 and 2.

Fees

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2015, the tuition fees are as follows:

  • MRes (full-time distance learning)
    UK/EU students: £6,500 (total for completion in one year)
    International students: £14,500 (total for completion in one year)
  • MRes (part-time distance learning)
    UK/EU students: £2,166
    International students: £4,833 per annum
  • PGCert (part-time distance learning)
    UK/EU students: £2,166
    International students: £4,833 per annum
  • PGDip (full-time distance learning)
    UK/EU students: £4,333 (total for completion in one year)
    International students: £9,332 (total for completion in one year)
  • PGDip (part-time distance learning)
    UK/EU students: £2,166
    International students: £4,833 per annum

The fees quoted above will be fully inclusive for the course tuition, administration and computational costs during your studies.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of courses lasting more than a year for UK/EU students (fees are typically fixed for International students, for the course duration at the year of entry). Self-funded international applicants for this course will be required to pay a deposit of £1000 towards their tuition fees before a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is issued. This deposit will only be refunded if immigration permission is refused. We will notify you about how and when to make this payment.
