Alternative funding sources
Charities, foundations and trusts provide a range of alternative funding for postgraduate research, including studentships, scholarships, bursaries, competitions and prizes.
We have subscribed to the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding, which is available to all applicants and current students.
This published guide and online resource provides a comprehensive overview of how to find and apply to alternative sources of funding, particularly charities, that make awards to current and prospective postgraduate students.
The guide was written by two UK-based PhD students who between them have won over £45,000 from 52 different charity awards. It contains model personal and financial statements, and over 100 links to voluntary sector funding sources. The Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding is independently published by GradFunding.
The Alternative Guide Online contains a huge database of funding opportunities, comprehensive guidance and numerous tools to help you prepare a winning application.
