Biomedical science is the application of biology-based science to medical use, be it research, health monitoring, or treatment. Improvements in healthcare continue to be driven by dramatic advances in the basic biosciences. This degree course offers you a broad, up-to-date training in a wide range of medically related disciplines, including physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, cell biology, microbiology, anatomy and histology, genetics, biochemistry, immunology and more. The course offers you flexibility and have a strong practical component, providing a sound basis for a career at the forefront of medical research.
The University runs several open days per year, in which Life Sciences take part.
The Faculty of Life Sciences also operates Faculty/campus tours which are available most days. These are with a student ambassador who will can tell you all about the Faculty and life at The University of Manchester. It may also be possible to meet with admissions staff (subject to staff availability). These tours are open to anybody thinking of applying to us for any of the Life Sciences.
