Course description

The Foundation Year is designed for applicants who do not have the appropriate entry qualifications for our biological or biomedical sciences courses, for example, those that have studied arts, languages or social sciences at A Level or are returning to study after a period away from it.

The year includes common core units in biology, chemistry and mathematics. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, students have a guaranteed place on the first year of any of our biological or biomedical sciences courses.

The majority of the Foundation Year is taught by experienced staff at Xaverian College and there is also a complementary programme of tutorials, seminars and laboratory practicals at the main University campus.

Open days

The University runs several open days per year, in which we take part.
