BA English Language and Screen Studies / Overview
Year of entry: 2017
In this course you will investigate sounds, words and grammar of the English language. You will discover where English comes from, how it developed over time, how it varies across the UK and further afield, and how it is used in different situations.
You will acquire the skills required for analytical language study alongside the means to apply those skills to the study of historical and present-day English. In addition, you will practise key transferable skills, such as essay writing and how to give a presentation.
You will study film and drama, and you will be introduced to methods and topics in media studies research.
Your will be able to apply to spend one semester studying abroad during the second year of your degree. Exchange partners are offered through the Erasmus or the Worldwide Exchange scheme. For more information about the Study Abroad Programme please consult the following:
The University holds Open Days regularly (usually June, September and October) where you have the opportunity to tour the campus and find out more about the facilities and courses we offer.
On this day you will find out more about the School and its resources, and meet members of academic and admissions staff who will be able to answer any questions you have.
Fees for entry in 2017 have not yet been set. For entry in 2016 the tuition fees were £9,000 per annum for home/EU students, and are expected to increase slightly for 2017 entry.
