Course description
Classics is a programme based on the study of Greek and Latin language and literature in each of the three years of study. There are three possible Routes through this degree programme: Route 1 involves the study of both Greek and Latin; Route 2 is primarily Greek-focussed, while Route 3 is focussed on Latin. Students who do not have their chosen language(s) at A level may take up one or both languages at beginners' level. Students may also choose to focus on Greek or Latin language and literature together with Ancient History. Where appropriate, the texts for literary and historical course units are studied in the original language. There is a wide range of styles of teaching, including lectures, seminars, small-group tutorials and virtual seminars via the web. In particular, we encourage students to involve themselves under guidance in independent study and original research.
Course fees
Tuition fees for home/EU students commencing their studies in September 2013 will be approximately £9,000 per annum. Tuition fees for international students will be £13,000 per annum. For general information please see the undergraduate fees pages.
