"By spending a year abroad I learnt so much both academically and personally, as well as about living and adapting oneself to a different culture. I think this period abroad gave me a great opportunity to meet lots of new and interesting people from all corners of the world and make some very good friendships".
Simon Chinn, Business and Management with Spanish
Universidad de las Americas, Puebla, Mexico
If you are looking for a degree programme with a built-in period abroad, choose a course with an additional compulsory full academic year abroad, eg 'with language' courses or 'with study in North America' courses.
For a list of these courses, see:
In addition, most of our other undergraduate courses allow you to participate in the Study Abroad Programme and spend time, usually a semester, at one of our partner institutions outside the UK.
In a small number of cases, degrees are structured or accredited by an external body in such a way that makes it almost impossible for students to go abroad (eg Electrical Engineering and Pharmacy).
You should check with the relevant undergraduate office whether or not studying abroad is an option for you.
Study abroad periods are available either in the second year of a three-year course, or in the third year of a four-year course.
Most students apply in their first year for a semester abroad in their second year.
Manchester Business School have their own International Office and run separate international exchange programmes with a different portfolio of partners. For further information, visit:
